That goes without saying Shooders but the player was here and seemed to enjoy it. All I am saying is that I for one would be happy to see him at Robertson again wether that happens is in the lap of the gods but he's in my opinion is tried and tested here and was a major success.

Our main problem (which it has been for a number of seasons) is getting some height ane experience in the side. Ok height and weight don't make u a better player but when it is accumulative to me it eventually comes into play. Look at us for example against Lesmahagow no six footers in our side at least half a dozen in ther's same with Linlithgow same with The Ant's. Ok when we get the ball down and play we are as good as anyone. But we struggle to have a plan B. Most clubs have this luxury where its the old bomb the box with high balls for the final 15 minutes and time after time it pays off. Cumbernauld are a prime example (well they were last season) of this tactic and it seems to pay off for them. All our good play and effort at times is undone by a simple long throw, corner or ball into box which we struggle to defend due to our height and stature. looking on the bright side after a slow league start we have now at least got 7 points on the board and another 2 wins will take us into mid table. My predicted target for safety is again 25 points and any team going down with this total woudl be very unlucky. We are capable of achieving more than this but the bottom line like it or lump it is staying in this division and not falling into the dreaded 2nd.

Come on Woodites get the keyboards tapping u agree or disagree with the above?

Mon The Wood !!!

Yes I do agree Robertsonpark things do seem very slow on opinions we seem to have lost a few regular contributers from last season where have you gone?

On the transfer front issue, as you and I very well know; thorniewood as a club do not have mega bucks tucked away in some swiss bank account so any players willing to come to thorniewood f.c. come to play for the love of the game and not for financial reward.

I find it very strange not to mention somewhat disturbing that the forum is so slow. Infact it's currently almost non existant. Surely there's Wood players, fans and officials out there who have questions to ask, point to raise, thing's to say?

Come on Woodites get your points on here use the forum.

I see that Cambuslang Rangers have placed ex Wood player Chris Queen on the transfer list. Chris was a player who done a good job here and I for one wouldn't mind seeing him return.

Mon The Wood!!!

Again a last gasp winner 2 minutes into added time to defeat Larkhall in a pulsating match yesterday. Maybe not the best in terms of quality but a tremendous contest non the less. I was talking to a friend in the club afterwards who had attended along with 3 or 4 mates for the first time and he told me they all really enjoyed the experience. It was a good advert for the junior game and after an initial frantic 10/15 minutes it settled down to be a very competitive match indeed.

After going 2v0 i thought our chance of victory had gone until Andy Stewart popped up with that late winner. The roar of relief and joy from the Thorniewood hoards in the Robertson Park crowd were there for all to hear.

What we need now is to get a wee run going (not an easy thing to do in such a tight league) to get us out of the bottom three.

We got the break at the end yesterday and maybe thats the little bit of luck that's been needed to kick start our league campaign. Overall I thought we just about merited the win and can't praise the boys enough for going right to the end. MON THE WOOD!

Shooders66 your right with what you say we were a bit unfortunate to have drawn such a big name at such an early stage but these are the games we're all in it for. Better getting put out here than some god forsaken place like the moors of Forth for example.

It was always going to be a massive ask for us to repeat the Beith heroics and after going 2v0 inside 18 minutes the task was nigh on impossible. I wasn't privvy to the pre match team talk but you can be rest assure not conceeding in the first 20/25 minutes played a part in it. When we failed to do so it was plan b right away. Teams like this will kill u if they can and run up scores of 6/7/8 9 etc so to knuckle down and conceed only a further once was somewhat of an achievement.

The boys can hold their heads high thats for sure but we still are not firing on all cylinders and when we are I am sure we will see a different Wood and more importantly a run of victories to see us climb the league. NO clubs is too good to go down as many have proved so we cant have that attitude we need to fight for everythigngwe get but i know we are good enough and capable enough of achieving this and Im sure it wont be long till we start to get those points on the board.

Mon The Wood!!!

Brave display by the Thorniewood in the Scottish Cup,but how unfortunate we had too be drawn against Linlithgow Rose in the second round of the cup.

This is a club who have a brilliant standing within the junior game so it is no disgrace to come away from Prestonfield Park with a 3-0 defeat.

After talking to a few of the Rose fans they were saying that our boys had played well and gave the Rose a good game, because they said this was the best football played by the Rose for a while so i think we can take great comfort from this. so its back to the bread and butter of the league for now but lets be possitive and play the way you know you can,Keep the faith because the Wood faithful are right behind you.

Welcome back Robewrtson Park.

For me, we have lost the fire, desire, fight, call it what you like that the team had last year.

It might be that the team where getting stagnant.

It's easy to raise your game against teams such as Beith. What we need, and i am sure we have it in place now in the new management team, is people to tell them, to give them the kick up the rear they need.

Maybe they need to play a settled side without so many changes??????

Everyone will have their own opinion on all matters to do with the football team.

However, one thing i really believe in, is that we have the players in the squad that can put a run together and push back up the table.

Lets get behind them, encourage the team on a Saturday from the sides and doing what we can for them before the games.

C'mon the wood!!!

It was the flatness of it all that shooders that shcoked me. After a magnificent display at Beith it was to say the least disappointing to see such a poor performance on saturday.

We are starting to fall behind quite seriously in the league and such is the competitive natural of this division we must start to pick up point very soon or face the depressing thought of plying ourtrade once again in our spiritual home of the dreaded second division.

No disrespect to the clubs in that league but ther's no way with the players we have here should be heading in that direction. But lets not kid ourselves and start taking a reality check...bigger clubs than us have gone down lets make sure it doesnt happen to us.

Mon The Wood!!!

One minute top of the world, next game back to earth with a hell of a bump

Beating Beith was a tremendous result for the boys and as a twood fan i was honoured to witness this game,

so why in the space of one week am i feeling gutted that we cannot cpitalize on the performance from the week before.

Stevie 2529 talks of getting back to the bread and butter of the league, but on todays performance against the Gow,we lacked the passion and desire.

The Representative that Linlithgow Rose sent to watch todays game must have gone back to Prestonfield Park to report that there was nothing to fear on this performance (lets face it he wasnt thier to watch the gow)so come on the wood lets prove the douters wrong, and get back to winning ways

I would like to urge the rest of the so called "Football Committee" that the football players and Management could be doing with your help.

There is more to it than turning up on a Saturday for your weekly gratuities! Apart from the usual suspects, El Presidenti, Big Ian, Lindsey and Stuart, and to a lesser extent, Caca we only see the committee at the bar.

Lets get behind the team by making the ground, playing surface and dressing rooms look at their best before every visit. Lets make sure the nets are up before the warm up.

Too many times, the Management had to put nets up before games...they have enough to do with the team.

We go to some so called smaller teams, but are shown how a committee works for the team......

Lets get behind them.

Why don't the committee hold a race night or the likes. They keep the revenue from this night to spend on improving the facilities, the team hold their nights for extra funding for players.

This way, you will be raising money to improve the shower facilities, raise money for a new lawnmower etc.

Come on guys....We hear you talk the talk...lets see you walk the walk !!!!
